The City of London Elections

The City of London is the oldest continuously-running local democracy in the world. The Square Mile is run by 100 Common Councillors and 25 Aldermen, elected by workers and residents across the City. Our ward elects 2 Common Councillors and one Alderman in The City of London.

Billingsgate Ward is home to many businesses and residents in need of strong local representation. Businesses in the ward come from sectors such as insurance, banking, law, management consulting, technology, hospitality, retail, business groups and trade associations, livery companies and charities. The ward also has a thriving local residential population in developments such as the Sugar Quay apartment complex who deserve and expect full and fair local representation and support from their local elected members in the City of London Corporation on the issues that matter to them, in areas such as traffic, crime and security, clean air, public health, waste collection, anti social behaviour and much more.

The next Common Councillor elections will take place on 20th March 2025. Both City workers and residents can vote in City of London Elections, but you must be registered in order to exercise your democratic vote in March 2025 at the next election. You can vote in person on polling day at the local polling station by traditional paper ballot (Vote for David O’REILLY and Julie TUCKER) or via postal vote, further details will be sent in advance to all registered residential voters and business voters in early 2025 by the City of London Corporation electoral services department. If you vote by post, be sure to send your vote in as early as you can well ahead of time in March to avoid any delays. You may also appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf in person on polling day if you so wish.
